100.0Hz CTCSS Tone on all NARC Repeaters

Effective Saturday March 28, 2009 at 15:00 the CTCSS tone required to access all NARC repeaters will be changing to 100.0 Hz.

This change affects all NARC repeaters on the 144, 220 & 430 MHz bands:

147.060 - VE6HM *
147.090 + VE6UV **
147.240 + VE6PLP / VE6JN ***
224.760 - VE6HM
444.100 + VE6HM

* There will be no change for the 2m 147.060 VE6HM repeater as the100.0 Hz tone has been in place for some time now.

** The VE6UV CTCSS tone will be changing from 114.8 Hz to the 100.0 Hz to standardize and simplify CTCSS tone access to all NARC repeaters.

*** Not currently in operation.

There will be plenty of reminders at meetings, on nets and on the web site. NARC recommends that you reprogram your radio a few hours before the change over time.

Attention all ARES Members with Yeasu FTH-2008 radios

If you use one of the NARC Yeasu FTH-2008 radios, you will need to get it reprogrammed at the NARC site between 10:00 and 15:00 Saturday March 28, 2009.

The reprogramming will update the CTCSS tone for ARES channel 1 the VE6UV 147.090 repeater, and ARES channel 3 to read VE6PLP with a 100.0 Hz tone (for future use). You can also pick up a new frequency card for your radio.

If you are no longer a member of ARES but you have retained your FTH2008 radio, please return it to the NARC site.

With thanks - ARES Edmonton Region.
